Page 17 Will have this text and title: H is for Hairy (Maze)
The children spent a period of time building a maze for Hairy as this idea was brought up when the children wanted to create a game for Hairy. They did research on mazes and watched a variety of videos on how to create them but never with blocks so they had to think of it in a different way. They made the maze pretty fast as they worked together as a team to put blocks together as they counted them every time one was put down. The end result was exciting for them because they watched Hairy figure his way out in something that they put their effort in.

Page 14: What child doesn’t like a furry fluffy animal? Aside from their typical animal encounters, the ferret was one of their favorites as animal is different because they constantly mentioned their musky smell and the way they play was more like a puppy. The children said that they are “jumpy, silly” animals. They pretended to be animal trainers as they would give the ferret treats every time it would spin. By doing this, they gained awareness of social roles.

Page 20: Clay has been an important material in the classroom as the children manipulate the clay by pounding, patting and pushing the clay into shapes and objects. This material also helps children express themselves in a different way than the typical paper and pencil as they expressed how much they enjoy manipulating the clay.

Composition
When children use a variety of materials, they experience many different textures, colors, and shapes. In this case, the children used these materials to create images. Many of them chose to create faces but Pravit said “I want to make the ocean floor” and that demonstrates that this experience is open to many ways of expressing their thoughts.
Page 29:
Planting
The children enjoyed planting as they planted in tiny pots and watched the plants grow as they watered them every day. When they finally saw the growth happening, they decided they wanted to measure them. They even compared the tall ones with the shorter ones and practiced putting them in order from shortest to tallest, which helped build up their number sense.

Painting
Paint was always exciting for the children because they enjoyed using different materials for painting but not only is painting fun, it strengthens memory as they try to recreate images, builds fine motor skills, offers stress relief, and promotes optimistic attitude. They enjoy not only making their own creations but even painting on a large paper together.

Shadows
Shadows was an exciting experience for the children as it offers the opposite of the normal. The love the idea of the lights being off and them being able to create things on the wall and it also provided them many opportunities to learn as they would put colored paper the projector and have it projected on the wall or being able to see their shadow and explore the different parts of the body through shadow.

Music
During experience, the children are able to play piano and the ukulele as a daily part of their lives. The children began with frustration as many of them mentioned that when they play, it sounded “bad”. Others were frustrated because they didn’t even have the concept of how to use them but that’s where the fun ban for them because they spent the majority of their time figuring out the sounds and where they come from and how they are even created. Eventually, they were exposed to many other musical instruments that they were able to use during parades! Music is important as they build up patience and social skills!

Active play
Developing gross motor skills can be exciting for children as they improve their balance and endurance, strength, coordination, and flexibility as they practice walking on the balance beams, parachute and play hop scotch.
